Jacqualine Govan is the director of the Arkansas Head Start State Collaboration Office (HSSCO). In this capacity, Ms. Govan works to improve and support the collaboration and coordination of initiatives to deliver comprehensive services to low-income children and to build state early childhood systems. She serves as chair of the governor-appointed Arkansas Early Childhood Commission (AECC). In addition, her office supports the state's early childhood initiatives and programs while promoting the perspective and mission of Head Start. Previously, Ms. Govan served as the director of the Chicot Early Childhood Center in the Little Rock Special School District, where she worked with the school system and collaborated with Head Start programs through a $3.2 million Early Reading First grant.
Ms. Govan holds a bachelor of science (B.S.E.) in elementary education and special education and a master of science (M.S.E.) in elementary administration from Arkansas State University. She also holds an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in educational leadership from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her son.
