Carmen Martínez, a researcher at American Institutes for Research (AIR), serves as a REL Southwest researcher and the alliance liaison for the New Mexico Achievement Gap Research Alliance. Martínez’s research interests and areas of expertise include early childhood education and interventions; closing the achievement gap for low-income and minority students; and policies and programs designed to improve underrepresented students’ preparation for, access to, and persistence in the STEM fields. She also has extensive experience in research study design, cognitive testing, usability testing, critical incident technique, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and program evaluation.
