Lynn Mellor is a principal researcher at American Institutes for Research (AIR), where she provides overall leadership for all aspects of the analytic technical support and research and evaluation studies for the REL Southwest. Dr. Mellor’s responsibilities include managing the coordination and implementation of analytic technical support with research alliance members. In addition, she conducts applied research and evaluation studies.
Previously, Dr. Mellor was a director at ACT, Inc. During her 10 years at ACT, she was primarily responsible for the development of higher-performing schools and college and career readiness targets in multiple states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Texas. Dr. Mellor also worked for 8 years at the Texas Education Agency, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of research and evaluation using the state’s longitudinal data system. In addition to research responsibilities at the Texas Education Agency, Dr. Mellor was involved in several initiatives to improve the data collection and standards of the Public Education Information Management System, including leading the development of comprehensive standards to track students leaving the public school system.
Dr. Mellor earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology with a specialization in quantitative methods from the University of Texas at Austin.
