Sarah Mae Olivar is a researcher at American Institutes for Research (AIR). As the REL Southwest project coordinator, she manages and monitors the activities of all analytic technical support and research and evaluation projects. Olivar's professional experience includes planning, implementing, and managing curriculum audits, needs assessments, and program evaluations at the school, district, and state levels. Her other responsibilities at AIR include conducting research sampling processes; data collection through observations, interviews, surveys, focus groups, and document reviews; organizing and analyzing various sets of quantitative and qualitative data; interpreting data for report writing; and, facilitating Co-interpretationsSM, a process that provides a unique opportunity for schools and districts to collaboratively examine relevant data and determine critical areas of need.
Olivar earned an M.S. in social work from Columbia University in New York City with a practice method concentration in advanced generalist practice and programming along with contemporary social issues as a field of study.
