Video: Implementing a Data Literate Culture in a Rural Oklahoma School District
Through our Oklahoma Rural Schools Research Alliance, REL Southwest provided Homer Elementary in Byng Public Schools, a rural district in Oklahoma, with technical assistance on using data to inform classroom instruction. Part of an Educators and Data Use project, the professional development consisted of two in-person training sessions followed by monthly virtual meetings with the teachers and principals. Through the principals' vision and leadership, all Homer teachers became dedicated to ongoing, collaborative professional development with a focus on using data to improve student learning.
A year later, Homer's teachers and principals continue to meet, collaborate, and use data systematically to inform classroom instruction. This video tells their story.
